Italian Retrospective (Interview)

In Catania the first European retrospective dedicated to the great American photojournalist Michael Christopher Brown, IReporter.

From 9 October to 30 April 2022 at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Le ciminiere di Catania, the first European retrospective dedicated to the great American photojournalist Michael Christopher Brown, IReporter.

Curated by Ezio Costanzo and promoted and created by the OELLE Ancient Mediterranean Foundation in co-organization with the Metropolitan City of Catania, the retrospective includes the exhibition of over 200 photographs.

The photos on display retrace the career of the young American photographer who, more than anyone else, revolutionized the imagination of information. An innovator in the language of photojournalism also from a technical point of view. Since 2013, his recording tool has been his iPhone. A tool that no photojournalist had previously imagined using to immortalize a conflict. For Brown, however, the iPhone has become an instrument of choice since his camera broke during the revolution in Libya. His impactful photos, his explicit and brutal shots of lifeless bodies and the bloody face of Gaddafi represent one of the first reports published in the international press made entirely with a smartphone.
